Help, Would anybody be able to shed some light on why my gears have started to go sticky and hard to select. It's a 1.9dg with a 4speedbox . I had the boots and bushes all changed on the linkage on the box last year so should be good.

Re: Sticky gear selection.
Is there any crunching of gears ?
Any difference whether the engine is running or not ?

No crunching, no change weather the engine is running or not . Just really hard to get In and out of gear .

Hmm, doesn't look like it's a clutch problem then.
Can you disconnect the mechanism at the gearbox end and see how it feels to engage gears directly.

Re: Sticky gear selection.
Have you changed the clutch fluid recently, any leaks from the Slave or Master cylinders? Bleed it and check the colour of it. Gearbox oil change needed?

Re: Sticky gear selection.
Gearbox oil was changed when I had the bushes done last year. Clutch fluid / brake fluid up to full mark . Just greased all linkages from front to back and no change. I'll have to check the gearbox oil when I have more time.
Cheers guys .

Re: Sticky gear selection.
if it hard to select gears with the engine off and with the linkage disconnected then either the spigot bearing has collapsed and is holding the input shaft (but if same with engine running then not likely) or there's a problem in the box, probably broken 3rd4th synchro hub, could be a relay lever issue, you'll find it hard to cleanly push the selector ball in and out to get 1st 2nd and reverse gear and may notice difficulty getting neutral from 3rd or 4th
