DJ to MV pistons

I am about to get my DJ engine reconditioned/rebuilt and have been wondering if having MV pistons put in it, thereby lowering the compression ratio would be better economically as I could use 95RON petrol. We travel all over Europe and 98RON petrol is not always available.
I will be running the engine on a carburettor and I know you can retard the ignition on the DJ to allow the use of 95RON.
When running on 95RON petrol Is it better just to retard the ignition on the straight DJ in terms of power, fuel consumption and longevity of the engine?
Or put in MV pistons in terms of power fuel consumption and longevity?
If anyone has ideas about this or there is anyone who has already done this can you let us know what the result has been, please.
