Got the carb booked in with Bromyard next month but I`m dependant on the van as my daily driver.
The van will start great from cold but as soon as she warms up the problems begin. It intermittently cuts out, coughs and hesitates on acceleration. It seems to run better when the second venture opens when pushed but still not great.
Anyone out there that can offer advice would be much appreciated.
Tried the usual suspects, vacuum hoses etc but to no avail......

Are you sure your timing is right, you had some posts about that?

Pop the trunking off the carb and pump the throttle, check for a jet of fuel from the accelerator pump down the carb?

Timing issues not fully resolved, hence the Bromyard avenue. I thought that at least this would give me peace of mind as the engine is newly built but I can`t rule out that the carb hasn`t been serviced in 30 yrs. I also thought it would give me a good starting point to resolve the timing problems I have. I`ll re-check the accelerator pump but confess that I haven't measured the supply. Tried new rotar arm, cap and plugs too!

Hello again Itchy (and other members reading this post), been out and looked at the carb only to find that the accelerator pump isn`t squirting fuel through. I`ll try and investigate a little further tonight but just a quick thanks meantime.

Regasket then. Chances are the acc diaphram is split or one of the channels in the carb is blocked. Easy fix anyway. They usually are easy fixes I find.

I rebuilt mine a couple of years ago, not difficult or too time consuming.

Worn fuel pump pushrod can cause symptoms like this. Cheap and easy to replace. Bromyard is the brilliant option for a 30 year old carb.

It has taken a while (the weather hasn`t helped!) but the carb has finally arrived along with an extensive list of work which identified many problems. In fact on reading the list and seeing that an initial engine test was pointless, I feared the worst and thought it was junk!
However, it arrived, was fitted with detailed instructions provided and the van is now running so much better that it did and is completely transformed.
A huge thanks from me to Bromyard for their professional work and no hesitation in recommending them to anyone else suffering from Pierburg syndrome.

Never gone the Bromyard route. Wouldn't doubt their expertise but I just clean them, send to Roger Ball in Clacton to have throttle flap rebushed (not expensive) then regasket and tune. Theres not a lot to go wrong with them to be honest. Some folk are just afraid of them or else feel its not a job they can do themselves.

Everything is easy when you know how, sometimes when you have a lot of experience you forget that not everybody else finds it easy.

Much truth in what you say. I guess that applies to so many things.
