Evening everyone.
I have a 2.1 injection Westy which runs on LPG (done by Steve at Gasure 18 months ago).
She has been to my friendly mechanic recently while he tried to trace an idling fault with no joy in the end...
The problem is that sometimes she idles perfectly and other times she idles far too slowly and then eventually cuts out. Initially the problem was on LPG only, but now it does the same on petrol. It is only intermittent - some days she runs lovely. We've checked all of the connections and earths and nothing appears loose or disconnected. When she is acting up, there is less power available as well.
Any thoughts gratefully received, and if anyone knows an LPG specialist in the Dorset/Wilts/Somerset area I'd bite their arm off!
Many thanks in advance.
Phil

Re: LPG idling issue
check the vacuum from the plenum chamber to the vacuum advance and fuel pressure regulator, if the spigot on the plenum is being blocked by excess oil from breather or build up of oil vapour residues then that would affect the timing and fuel supply

Re: LPG idling issue
I'm not clear on whether it's a DJ or MV - can't see it mentioned? So, if it's MV there's no vac advance, and the ECU controls ignition timing. That could be your problem - a bad connection in any of several places could give these symptoms, particularly earths or rpm signal. I don't think it's temp2 sender, as that wouldn't affect power on LPG, but timing would.
If it's DJ, it's a different kettle of fish, and as Aidan said an air leak might cause these probs. It could also be idle stabiliser playing up and moving the timing around (also DJ only, not on MV).

Re: LPG idling issue
Sorry guys,
Should have mentioned It's an MV. The temp 2 sensor was recently changed because it was knackered and causing the engine to stay on it's cold cycle.
Thanks for the advice both of you. I ran her today and she's running fine on petrol, but missing on gas. I wonder if this is 2 different issues - she did the low/rough idling thing once and after being switched off for 15 mins, I couldn't reproduce the fault. Bloody infuriating.
Again, thanks for the comments. I am going to take it to "Pemco Pitstop" in Yeovil, who are LPG specialists according to their website...
