white smoke

Post by tyneside-t25 »

I've also just been for a run in the van,all was fine until i noticed lots of white smoke behind me & temp gauge went up & buzzer sounded.pulled over & engine was stinking hot.sat for 20 mins then craked the header tank cap open,, low & behold ,, no water in tank(it WAS full cos i just topped it up)
Any ideas anyone ? head gasket ?? cyl head cracked ??
by the way its a 1.6D cs engine.
cheers Kev.

New head gasket on & all torqued up .couldn't really see any damage to the old gasket . anyway, fired it up & all looks well,NO white smoke now ,, infact it looks like there is less carp coming out of the exhaust than before too... just pleased the head wasn't cracked. :D
