New Thermostat

Post by campervanster »

Hi,

I think my thermostat is staying open as the engine never gets up to temp unless stuck in traffic! On motorway journeys the needle goes about halfway between the first white block and the red light at the top.

It's a JK thermostat that I have in it at the moment - any suggestions for one that actually works!? 1.9 petrol DG

Cheers

I've had a few things from JK and they haven't been so bad. I'll try brickworks for the thermo though and see how we get on!

Cheers

Mine did the same for a bit but when i had the dash binicle and clocks off to do another job it worked fine when i put it back together so worth checking the multi way plug to your clocks.

In my experience it's pretty rare for them to stay open... the spring on there keeps em closed..
Hence why when they fail the engine overheats...
Could be faulty I guess, but just a thought...

Oh yes just kampers really do live up to there name everything we have from them is faulty they even sent us the wrong sump plug :rofl brickworks is the way forward we just had a new thermostat from them and water pump and touch wood all perfect so far. Our temp gauge actually reads to high but I'm sure it's something to do with the wording so I need to sort that and it will be fine

I've seen a post on Facebook about the same issue and people seemed to say that anywhere between the two white blocks is ok so I think I will leave it as it is.

Yeah, that would be worth a check. Maybe it's my OCD that I would like the needle to be pointing straight at the red light - so maybe I just need to get over it!

I did test it last year before I put it in and it seemed to work OK. Do these things degrade or break over time? They look pretty sturdy to me

I know you from IG?! Yeah, everyone seems to swear by Brickwerks but i've not had a bad experience with JK so far.
