fuel gauge last 1/4 is hit and miss would a new fuel sender be better if so which one from brickwerks wv2zzz25zgh122917 its an 86 2x sorts

At best the gauge is an indicator that fuel is present in the tank.
A new sender will be an anti climax.

You'll just have a dirty connection between the arm & the coil/resistor. Pretty easy to clean up & get working properly again.

Pretty easy if you've got nowt better to do than lump the tank out. As said, live with it. Any gain will be slight. Just fill up before you hit 1/4 - as most of us do. They're no fun to push.
