Heater Valve Genuine, OEM or lucky dip?

Post by mrnickmuss »

Just ordered two lots of bits and pieces on two different day from Brickwerks... The benifit of hindsight and all that...... Anyway just taking my Doka of the ramps and spotted dripping coolent from the heater valve....
Brickerks are out of stock of the genuine VW ones and they are not very complimentary about other ones in their description... Looking around prIces seem to vary greatly....I was wondering if anyone has any experience of ones that dont leak and if can point me in the right direction??????

The genuine vw front and rear heater valves are no longer available. The front valve that VW Classic sell is a reproduction aswell.

Are you saying VW commercial can still get the heater valves?

Well I don't check every part but my local one in Coventry hasn't disappointed yet. Every time I pull in there someone shouts "look, a REAL VW".

In theory every official VW dealership can access the items sold by Classicparts

Thats what I've found. Most of the time its next day collection. Prices are often a LOT less than the box shifters - depends what it is. I don't buy bearings or bolts there (unless desperate) but otherwise, they're pretty good.

So who makes the ones sold by VW Classic parts ? The vw heritage front valve is Meyle and cheap at a tenner, but the vw classic is about £40. Just done a search for the Febi valve as mentioned by ZsZ and that is about £10, its most likely the one that VW Classic sell.
