Accelerator cable bracket

Post by mrdandandan »

Hi everyone, i'm broken down awaiting a tow. The throttle cable is connected but something is missing (fallen off?)to hold the throttle cable sleeve in place so it just pulls through the two guides on the chassis itself, theres no resistance to return the pedal. Driving me nuts trying to figure out whats missing! Any ideas?

The sleeve is retained in 2 places ... at the engine end there is a circlip-type clip which slots into the groove on the plastic plug and at the front of the sleeve there is a plastic bracket that is bolted to the chassis with an M6 x 12mm nut and bolt.

I have looked at this many times but never really looked at it, thanks Ian I didn't realise there was a circlip so I took a picture tonight, I have a spare Gemo cable and it does NOT have this clip ( unless it fall out of the packet years ago)

looks very much like this but not listed for DG

I replaced my badly frayed and generally fooked cable last week ... mine was a Gemo as yours and as said it came with no clip. My cable had rotted where the plastic ball meets the sleeve and the cable was rotten and fell apart in my hand once off  :rofl

Ian.

P.S. This is one of the first parts I ever bought for The Bus ... I would advise everyone carry one. The worrying part is when I found it was from JK :rofl
