Having recently purchased my first ever VW a 1983 2.0 Aircooled poptop T25 I was slightly ruffled when I realised ALL the lower tinwear was missing.
The previous owner had rebuilt the engine and was aided by a leading Aircooled engine builder of repute. He thinks he was told the lower tinware is 'optional' but I'm not so sure. Luckily he had most of the parts and I've got a couple of pieces of ebay (except the parts that sit between the cylinders).
Is it possible to fit the lower tinware with the engine fitted ? I'm guessing I'll need to remove the exhaust/heat exchangers to get the rear plates in ?
Any hints/tips for a newbie greatly appreciated.

Re: Aircooled CU 2.0 Tinware
These defector tins are essential (make sure you have got them) the pushrod tubes need removing to fit.
The other tins can be fitted without removing the heat exchangers.
