yes everything is back on correctly and gaskets and pipes ok. really stumped with this one!

In your situation I would go back to square one and look at the problem in more depth. I would check all ignition components, remove plugs, examine dizzy, vacuum pipes, choke, coil, that there is a good spark at the plugs, choke function, air filter, etc.
If it was running fine prior to your initial carb clean and fuel filter change it does sound as though something has been disturbed but you never know if another problem has occurred even though a slim possibility.
Not familiar with your carb but pull one of the plugs after trying to start it and see if it is wet with fuel. I would also try some easy start down the carb inlet just to check it does briefly fire up.

well i am well and truely stumped now!! Checked leads and plugs and no signs of fuel leakage. Sprayed some starter spray into carbs and still wont fire up. Still turns over but wont quite fire up. Also checked dizzy and coil connections and they seem fine.....??????
