Heater pipes, flow and return 1.6D

Post by Jetfitzmaurice »

Just a quick query as I pulled my cooling system apart and a few weeks have elapsed since and my notes have disappeared in the mess that is my garage, now I'm putting it all back with new hoses and I want to check i'm doing it correctly. The flow and return to the cab heater matrix in the dash. true or false

1) The flow has the on off valve in it?
2) The return is the one that goes into the back of the cylinder head?

Thanks chaps :D

as far as I remember the water pump on the diesel sucks water and pushes it into the engine from the radiator/heater matrix/bypass hose, which would suggest the hose from the end of the cylinder head is the heater feed. Can’t remember which goes to the valve though, but since I’ve bumped you up the list someone else may be along soon and either confirm what I’ve said or lend their greater expertise!

Woohoo!

Page 19.4 confirms what I suspected, and 19.10 suggests the heater valve is on the outward flow to the heater, i.e. from the end of the cylinder head.

Not me, just using the info gathered by others. I looked in the wiki but found nothing on this occasion, but remembered there were manuals if you click “Club Stuff” at the top of the page and go to “Downloads” on that page.

Happy to help :ok
