Hi all just sorned van for winter. taken my rocker cover off to paint as it was in a state .There is no oil deflector plate it's just the cam shaft my question is should there be one it'hasnt effected the engine do I need to buy one any info would be great.

There should be a black plastic cover that sits over the cam.
It is required, VW didn't put it there for fun.
Somebody will have one from a dead JX.

Cheers i was surprised to find it not there. I can't understand why anybody would remove it.just been on tinter web got one on order do you know how it fastens was there any special bolts to order ????

It just sits on top of the can studs, it's held in place by the rocker cover.
