Can anyone tell me what the difference is between early DG engines and later DG's?

Oil pressure senders.... early DG has one tween the push rods , late has two, one under the water pump and the one tween the push rods , all other bolt on bits are interchangeable - zorst, cooling system ect

The engine case is slightly different, has different main bearings, also heads are very, very slightly different so if you are rebuilding it's important to know but other than the oil pressure switches there is no difference in the base engine, they are interchangeable.
As said the ancillaries bolted on vary quite a bit, cooling system, alternator, exhaust...
