The tin top used to rattle over bumps if I didn't slam the tailgate hard enough, now it rattles always over bumps.
This is not a tinny rattle this it a loud clunky rattle, it appears to be the latch but I can't see how to adjust.
the striker plate doesn't seem to adjust, it has CSK screws, the latch has a tiny bit of movement but not enough to make a difference and as it has fixings on two planes I suspect it isn't adjustable.
Maybe the seal has just collapsed over the years and thats what is needed?
Maybe the striker plate has worn?
any pointers?
thanks
Paul

Re: Tailgate rattle?
Thanks for rhe suuestions, hadn't considered hinges but can't feel any movement.
looked at the latch it has movement so I suddenly had a brainwave and looked at the pop top for comparison, same movement.
but I did spot the rubber stop for the striker was missing the plastic part so fitted a piece of packing and will find out tomorrow if it has worked
E D I T going to swap them better idea

Re: Tailgate rattle?
Do the hinges adjust up and down? Will be looking into this myself as if the van sits with its tail to the sun the tailgate gets very sticky to open.

Re: Tailgate rattle?
I had this for years.
Then somebody else shut the gate.
Didn't shut so he slammed it
The rattle stopped.
Looked at the history and a new seal was fitted 4 years previous, aftermarket.
Just thought that it might make a difference
