Losing power like hitting a headwind

Post by Middle29 »

Hi All,

bus is losing power intermittently - seems to happen more over 100kph. Its like I hit a headwind & then it carries on doesn't seem to be a massive problem at the moment. I did have a problem with air in the fuel lines - I've changed them between the filter & pump and added a manual primer. I've also had a new boost pin added if that is relevant.. It's a fairly new problem.

Filter is overdue to be changed, did I read that the valve on top fails often? I may be barking up the wrong tree...

Cheers

Even with ear defenders I wouldn't go over 100kph. Does it lose power at higher throttle openings in lower gears? (but Im not suggesting you give it the beans in 3rd or 4th t find out - just if you've noticed it.)

Did changing the fuel lines get rid of the air bubbles?

I haven't much oomph left after 65 mph, that's without a turbo though. Mine has lost a little of the top end but rarely need it so am not worried unduly.
Has it happened since the warmer weather? Is it the same in the cool of early mornings? Diesels like cool air up them!

I've only really noticed it lately and only on a long trip after being on the road for a while. The fuel lines are not clear, I was away when I changed them, so not sure if there's still air getting in. I've ordered a new thermo valve for top of the filter.

Haven't noticed it at any other times, other gears etc. I can only describe it as it's like it misses a beat momentarily.

I did wonder if I have an issue with my fuel pump.

I don't get to go over that speed often
