Rocking motion when braking

Post by Carlsbus »

Morning guys I wonder if anyone can help
Last April MOT a success advise to replace pitted front discs
After replacing front discs I began to notice a rocking motion while braking, my thoughts were I need to replace front calliper so now to match new discs, after then replacing most of the rubber around the front suspension, top and bottom ball joints I turned my attention to the rear replacing shoes and drums.
Resorted to removing my Porsche one cups and placing standard wheels but still the same.
Any ideas ?
Kindest regards Karl

Just a thought but have you checked the front hub bearings to make sure that there is no excessive play?

Thanks guys for your replies I had installed new bearings when I fitted new discs, noticed that there are 2 different sizes ( found that out when I had already installed the larger ones) again new drums installed too, if I pull up on the handbrake I can't feel anything didn't know if the new disc are a bit shonky and should try and find a better more expensive set or if it could be the wishbone rubbers (only ones I haven't changed)

Call me thick if you like but I don't actually understand what you mean by rocking.
Is it rolling, pitching, grabbing, jerking from side to side and does the frequency seem to coincide with the wheel rotation? I would be interested in hearing an exact description.

Rocking or pulsing of the break pedal..... had this on mine .....bent rear drive shaft !!
Jack it up
Break it down
Start it up.... you'll soon see the deflection if it's there !
