Post by jacko1967 »

Hi ive got an oil leak today only just noticed it on drive way had a look in engine bay and it seams to be coming from the sensor on the oil filter under the oil pipe I pulled the rubber boot back off the sender and it was full of oil? ... has the sender just gone ? Any ideas ?

Its an oil pressure sensor, so would have thought it should be in contact with oil.

It should have a copper washer on it to seal, can't remember the size, but I replaced mine with one from a multipack of copper washers.

If your oil light isn't coming on the road then the sensor is probably ok.

I had this happen to me, no warning lights but just an annoying oil leak that was solved by a replacing the old sensor. I accidentally ordered the wrong sensor when I replaced mine because it was so discoloured. Make sure you get the right colour replacement.

E D I T.....my sensor was the one at the back of the cylinder head on my 1.6D non turbo
