Yeah Syncro it is, hmmm i did not think about it at all when i posted, i wonder why syncros have metal ones? Im glad you mentioned!

Well, one reason might be that the sender's/switches used earth through the metal housing and only have one wire to them, so a plastic replacement won't work without modifying the electrics.

My guess in they had problems with plastic breaking with the shock stress a syncro would experience, pipes full of water are heavy

Failed the MOT today.

5 tiny bits of weld. One rear tyre and two anti roll bar bushes. Grr


Anyone in the Worcestershire area got a decent 14" wheel and tyre for sale?

I would think it's more to do with earth connections in such an unusually wet environment.
I modified my electrics to fit a metal housing..

I made an external tightener for the thermostat housing cover, works just fine haha.
