Change over to injection tank
Due to an engine change. I need to put a later injection tank in the jambo van , other than the tank what else needs changing over for an injection tank?
Ps it's a 1984 early model van
Thanks daz

Re: Change over to injection tank
Just pump filter and fuel pipes, run the pipes through the chassis and attach to front to rear chassis rails. While you have the tank out check everything else under there , brake and clutch pipes and clips, handbrake rod and wiring.

Re: Change over to injection tank
you'll need filler neck and associated rubbers to suit. injection tank is 86 onwards iirc and early filler necks diameter is smaller. fuel out let is 12mm as opposed to 8mm so none of your pipes will fit.

Re: Change over to injection tank
Later 'narrower' plastic filler neck...no bad thing TBH.

Re: Change over to injection tank
I left the tank alone, just fitted a swirl pot and pump.

Interesting kev , sorry for sounding thick , ( not hard for me) but swirl pot ? How does that work and where does it fit ? I would also need to provide a return from the injection system .

Re: Change over to injection tank
Yeah You can buy external swirl pots off the shelf for injection engines and VW specific.
Golf 1.8i pots are cheap and work well.
You just have to find a place to mount it near the tank
All the connections are there.
Just google swirl pot.

Re: Change over to injection tank
or vw golf mk2 gti fuel pump - takes fuel from tank into pump then out to engine - the surplus from the engine goes back to pump and the surplus from that goes back to tank thus keeping pump housing full at all times even round fast corners!

I changed the tank to one with a bigger outlet , haven't bothered with a swirl pot as I wouldn't of thought I'd be cornering that fast in the van to cause problems , I could be wrong but only time will tell, has anyone had problems with fuel slosh ???? , if it's a problem I'll steal one from my other subarus

Re: Change over to injection tank
If it has a bigger outlet chances are it's an injection tank, which has an internal swirl pot.Domino wrote:I changed the tank to one with a bigger outlet , haven't bothered with a swirl pot as I wouldn't of thought I'd be cornering that fast in the van to cause problems , I could be wrong but only time will tell, has anyone had problems with fuel slosh ???? , if it's a problem I'll steal one from my other subarus
