Hi all, I've got leaking push rod tubes still. They've leaked for the whole time I've owned the van. I need someone who can genuinely stop them peeing out oil. So far I've tried Mac in Stretton two attempts no fix, slambassador in Seem no fix, the so called Vw expert off Manchester Road in Manchester twice amongst others. I've changed the tubes, seals, covers all the gaskets and it still pees out oil. I need someone who knows what they're doing and can stop the worst of the leaks. I know all ac engines leak oil but I've spent hundreds trying to get this sorted to no avail . Please let me know if you know the people I need Cheers Ady

Our air cooled started leaking like mad , i was convinced it was the pushrod tubes but on close inspection it turned out to just be a rocker cover gasket, which seemed too small for the job by not following the profile of the casing at all, just cutting across at the corners, where oil was pouring out. Relaced these 2 years ago still dry as a bone really.

Steve at gasure, as recommended by jrt.
Must be something other than just push rod seals though. What kind of rocker covers are on it?

Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like gasure is my next stop. It's definitely the pushrod seals that are leaking.

It's been a while since my last post. I did indeed go to gasure. I've still got leaking push rod tubes, a new exhaust that rasps as you let off the gas pedal and a scratch down the driver side of the van. I have tried to get back to Steve to get it put right but that's not happening. I'm not bothered about having to pay again I just want my van fixing properly. Anyone have suggestions.

Aircooled pushrod tubes/seals are the easiest to replace too. Gasure - hmmm.

Hi all, I thought I'd update you on the van and give you all the name of the only specialist who has done the proper job of fixing our van. DAN' S DUBS. Following the disaster of going to Gasure for the work done, I was referred to Dan's Dubs by the mech who does our Mot's etc. What a legend Dan is. He found and removed the exhaust putty used to fit our new exhaust, he had to fit new gaskets too. He replaced the siliconed up rocker gaskets, he replaced the cheapo push rod tube seals as non Vw ones that didn't fit and were already rock hard were leaking. He discovered that the oil filler pipe was crushed against the chassis or some other bit of structural metal. He replaced the seal on that having replaced the totally knackered engine mounts. He then discovered that the distributor seal was leaking due to being hard and split. He replaced it. He pointed out that the hydraulic lifters were incorrectly adjusted and fixed that, but 2 or three on the right are failing and will be replaced shortly when we aren't using the van for a few days. He spotted that the crank case oil breather is missing and advised that I fit one. If you need work doing want a good job by a great bloke who really knows what he's doing then you have to call Dan. He's the only so called specialist who has stopped the oil leaks on this van in the last 8 years. Oh and his prices are fair and he gives clear and regular updates with pictures if desired. an Seriously you'd be mad to waste your money on the rest.
