Hi All
Looking for advice.
Having running issues with my 1982 2L Aircooled T25.
I usually use it once a week. This time roung it had been stood for about 3 weeks. Fitted an electric fuel pump about 4 months ago and all has been fine (the pump takes its power from the blue wire on the altenator). Having been stood awhile I had to prime the fuel system.
Started her up no problem, let it idle for 10 minutes or so, all seemed well. Drove off and found it was slower than normal to accelerate, it was also stuttering slightly and overall speed was slower.
Any advice on what to check and how to troubleshoot would be gratefully received.
Also fitted a new fuel filter when I fitted the pump.
cheers
Myles

Re: T25 2L Aircooled Stuttering/Judder
Hi all,
Some more info.
When cold it runs absolutely fine, no issues. A few miles down the road once the engine has warmed up is when it starts to judder/stutter, most notable under acceleration. It idles fine when warm.
Could this be a fueling issue. Is there a solenoid that should open when warm to allow more fuel? Could it be running lean?
Any help gratefully received.
Cheers
Myles

Not sure if its relevant, did a compression test after a run, whilst the engine was warm:
1 - 125psi
2 - 125psi
3 - 110psi
4 - 140psi
1 - 125psi
2 - 125psi
3 - 110psi
4 - 140psi

Hi,
Not an expert at all. But could it be to do with the choke? Have you checked it operates properly - i.e. Watch the flap as the van warms up and check they move as they should.
It could maybe be the coil - if it's when it has warmed up - is the coil super hot to the touch?
There is an idle solenoid thing as well - there's a test for that but I'd imagine that it would do that from the outset.
There's also an idle stabiliser (black plug on the left with 2 plugs going in to it) - you can just unplug the two and plug them together - if it then works fine you know that's the problem.
Hope that helps.
