A picture speaks a thousand words for a job that can seem near impossible:

Fit the new bush to the link eye first, by getting it half-in at an angle, then use a BLUNT flat screwdriver to gently tuck the flange in before pushing it though by hand.
PTFE maintenance spray helps no end. Use the silicone grease supplied when refitting.
You could probably do the job just as well using a workmate and a block of wood clamped across the top of the jaws.
