Hi
Planning on rebuilding my 1.6td engine that's in my westfalia California Starting this weekend to see what I'm dealing with I've ordered some tools to help with this like the cam and pump locking tool.Is there a good manual for this or does anyone have some good advise on this subject.

Bentley only covers the N/A diesels and Haynes only covers the petrol engines. The only 3rd party manual that I'm aware covered the 1.6TD T25 was the Russek manual. The original is out of print, but Just Kampers publish a reprint here.

Also, if you drop me a PM with I'll send you a couple of links to download PDF copies of the relevant VW Workshop manuals.

The 1.6 diesel and turbodiesel mechanics are virtually identical so even the Bentley would be useful. I don't have a copy of the factory JX mechanics manual, however I do have a PDF of the JX 'Injection' manual, which covers the pump (including timing) and injectors:

Sorry to breathe life into such an old thread... Do Haynes cover the 1.6td? I know nothing about engines but Haynes has always been a great tool for the useless like me

Workshop manual for 1.6td engine

Haynes only covers petrol engines for the T25.
Bentley only covers NA Diesel engines.
There was a Russek manual that covered the 1.6TD JX - you can either pickup a used copy on fleabay, or Just Kampers have a reprinted version that they sell.
If you drop me a PM to remind me I will send you a couple of links to download the relevant VW Workshop Manual sections for the 1.6TD.
