What am I looking at here

Post by quink »

So, I did what in hindsight may have been a stupid thing, I bought a 1984 T25 camper, that occasionally needs tickling with a hammer to start, and had zero history with it.
Ok not something I'd normally do, but in my defence I did have my wife and kids going nuts over it.
It goes, it stops, its watertight, and all the electrics work, not too bad for a 30 year old van.

However the engine has me a little puzzled, I was told its a 1900cc Turbo diesel, heres a picture.

I can't find an engine number on this thing for the life of me I'd expect it to be an AAZ, but the only clue I can find is ABL cast in to one of the manifolds you can just about make it out here, and the sticker on the cam cover is only partly intact.

So question is can anyone recognise the engine? am I looking at an AAZ or is it more likely an ABL from a 94 T4 which is the way I'm leaning?
Also is all that plumbing standard on a diesel T25 or is that something to do with the conversion?
