clutch/gearbox problem

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

clutch/gearbox problem

Post by captainangelheart »

Have just nursed my 1.6 diesel 4 speed 1983 T25 camper from Padstow to Cheltenham with a dodgy clutch or gearbox, not sure which.
The problem I have is gear selection. It seems as though the clutch isn't dissengaging and gear selection is impossible without double de clutch. There is a nasty whirring type of whine when stationary which goes on depressing the clutch pedal. When I select reverse and let the clutch out nothing happens for a while Although you can feel a bite and the revs drop enough to make her stall if you let it, then she'll suddenly lurch back kangaroo style almost as if I'd left the handbrake on. I have also noticed she will creep forward when in neutral.weird I know but you have to see it to believe it. There is no slack in the stick when in gear and drives fine once your going but there is an annoying whining whistle the goes up and down with the speed. That started at the beginning of what was to be a week in Cornwall
Plenty of fluid in the reservoir and had a new clutch about 1000 miles ago.
Anybody have any ideas where I should start with the spanner?
