When changing the tubes on my cu (type4) engine I found they'd been bodged and put in with sealant. I could twist them but not pull/push them out. What I did was wrap a piece of para cord around the tube and pass it up over the heat exchanger. Then using the bar from my jack I wrapped the other end round it and used the chassis rail to rest the bar on and pull. It gave plenty of leverage and popped em out really well. Don't know if it might help someone so I thought I'd put it here. (I could find anything on the search about it and if it's a repeat I'm sorry!)
I will add that the tubes were in good nick as I could rotate and see all of them. I probably wouldn't use it on tubes a couldn't see as they could well collapse!
