No compression!!!!

Got a 2.1 watwecooled engine, had to take the heads off to get exhaust connection helicoiled. Engine now back in but does not seem to have any compression! Cannot see anything missing or alarming, Fuel is going in, electrics are ok, but seems to be making a whoosh noice when trying the ignition

I think followers may have drained down and not doing their bit.

if you just did the preload on the hydraulic tappets you won't get compression for a few hours min maybe overnight as they need to drain back to equilibrium

Or have the pushrods not seated correctly
