They weren't OEM 16" Syncro steel wheels if that's what you mean.

The genuine ones are instantly recognisable by the raised circular dimples between the bolt holes to accommodate the head of a retaining bolt for the brake discs / drums.

There's a set of 4 genuine 16" Syncro steel wheels on fleabay at the moment - item number 153029399801, they're in good condition but a 'little bit' on the expensive side.

Yeah I’ve made a sensible offer on those, but been rejected, I’m

I thought there can be problems fitting 16" rims to a 14? Something to do with offset, I don't really know.

There's no problem with using these 16" rims on either 2WD, 14" Syncro or 16" Syncro, as the offset works just fine for any of them. The main issue is with maximum diameter of the tyres - if the tyres are too large they'll rub on the trailing arms and arches. The maximum size tyre on these rims, for 2WD and 14" Syncro, is generally taken as 215/70 R16 or equivalent. Any wider or taller and something will catch. A few things to bear in mind:
1. These rims are bombproof and as a consequence they are HEAVY!
2. The rims are only 5.5" wide so you'll need to make sure you have a tyre that is designed to fit on a rim that is this narrow.
3. If you go with too large a diameter tyre, especially on a 2WD or 14" Syncro, you may adversely affect your gearing particularly on hills.

Bear in mind that Mefro 16" wheels are £60 each from Brickwerks and they're not quite as sturdy, so you're always going to be paying at least that price if not a bit more.
