Early n/s sliding handle

Postby sezicoolcat » 26 Jul 2010, 19:54

Found out why my vans handle hangs down. Handle completely busted into 3 segments inside.
Anyone have a long/early handle goine spare?
Or does anyone know if the shorter handle fits/works? (Not going for stock / aesthetics, just functionality)

Many thanks,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,
I had same problem, I got a handle off member on here.Hang on as they are rare, and expensive new.
I managed to drill and tap my original, but just a temp fix, a new handle is required. good luck

Have an article from thesamba.com that shows you how to re-set the key/barrel to use your old key in a new handle.
Might try that if I can get hold of a handle.
JK state that the handles that they supply are early / long ones. Anyone know if this is correct,as I thought early ones were no longer made and it was the short ones that were plentiful?

late ones do fit, they're a bit loose in the hole but I've had one fitted for about 8 years with no issues.

Not cheap but the right handle

I bought cab door handles off them and they were genuine when no-one else had them

I agree - I certainly don't mind paying £60 for a new item - but I'll still chance my arm for a bargain on ebay :ok

Hi Sarah,
Seen your post about handle needed. Did you manage to get hold of one as both of mine broke this weekend (internal & external).
I got a t25 1982. Any help would be great.

Cheers John

Hi John,
I am seriously considering getting a new JK one:
http://www.justkampers.com/shop/type_25/type-25-original-vehicle-parts/body-panels/handles-locks/sliding-door-handle-key-lhd-rhd-j11444-251843704.html

You might also need one of these (I have one, but can I find it now I need to use it??!)
http://www.justkampers.com/shop/type_25/type-25-original-vehicle-parts/body-panels/side-door-parts/sliding-door-handle-grommet-j11184-251843711a.html

I don't need an internal one, but here the internal one:
http://www.justkampers.com/shop/type_25/catalog/product/view/id/3454/s/sliding-door-inner-handle-j11060-211843642a/category/785/

Hope you get sorted soon. Mine needs MOTing very soon, so I'll have to go for a new one, as Idon't want to give the MOT centre the wrong impression (if handle is missing and hole taped over) :-)

Door handle grommet does not fit an early slider. I have tried. I sourced a second hand early grommet as they are NLA

Here's what they look like http://en.serial-kombi.com/volkswagen-t ... 39232.html
