Hope people can help on this one.
I understand a vehicle speed sensor is needed to stop this happening which I have but I noticed my Speedo wasn't working which I assumed was why the VSS signal was not being fed through to the ecu, hence the cutting out.
I have now fitted a new Speedo cable but the Speedo dial 'bounces' and I am still cutting out coming to a stop (engine light comes on).
Am I missing something or is it likely the bouncing Speedo cable is causing signal issues with the VSS?
Thanks

the speed sensor is a classic stall on stop error. Your speed sensors connected to the back of the Speedo right? Don't think the bouncing needle will stop it working, they all do that, mine certainly does. ECU only needs a rough signal to keep it happy.
If check engine light comes on, why not read the code and it'll tell you what's wrong?

Vss as above. Without it they also seem to throw iacv fault codes.

Remove your speedo inner from the sheath, regressed liberally with a General Purpose grease. Generally cable manufacturers aren’t generous. This fixed my bounce on a new cable. Also over tight curves can pinch the inner cable

Had the same problem for a year or so - stalling at junctions/roundabouts. No speed sensor on mine and turned out it was the idle air control valve. Solenoids were playing up. According to the Subaru specialist who diagnosed mine it’s a pretty common problem. Managed to pick up a new one from an importer of Japanese parts for £120 but was quoted as high as £300 by some. Changed it over myself and not had a problem since.

Thanks Mariner.
May try cleaning it out first and see what happens.
