I've got this hanging down and the wire is just loose in there, its not soldered, crimped or anything - just dangling... Any ideas?

what colour is the wire and does it come out of the black wrapped loom or is it separate ?

Yes it comes out the loom

there's 2 pictures there - one showing inline the other is a link.

It’s green and white striped under the muck.

1 side of it freely moves out.

Another way of looking at it - what doesn’t work.

How long does the light take to go off for glow plugs

Does temperature sender work

Does it run at all :)

There’s only 6 wires I think

It’s a 1990 but with Aaz engine. Everything works as far as I’m aware, but now you’ve mentioned those items, glow plug light doesn’t go off! I normally count about 7 seconds and I’m not sure about temp.

Is the white plug part just a connection that shields it from the crud or is there something in that?. Excuse my ignorance.

looking at the picture is it the wires with the two yellow plugs joined together that you are worried about or is there another wire behind to the left that has no terminal on it ?

Yes the one with the yellow plugs. 1 side is just placed in there, not fixed.

Glow plug temperature sender then.

Are you saying it’s just loose in the connector? If so just crimp another one?

Yes I suppose thats what I'll do - I wanted to know what it was before I reconnected it. Always slightly worried it's disconnected for a reason that I am not aware off - thanks.

My 1y conversion needs a resistor in line to have enough glow time. Possibly it’s the same on the aaz. Likely won’t find out this time of year, might struggle to start later in the year. Google for aaz conversion instructions?

This should probably go in the wiki - some very useful diagnosis tips.

Thanks for this, to be honest it starts great touch wood - (after changing fuel lines).
But i just count 7 or 8 seconds. Temp sender makes perfect sense so far..
