Wondering....
Shortening the sump usually reduces oil capacity unless it incorporates "wings".
Might the addition of an oil cooler compensate ?
You can get them with integral fans for confined spaces with little natural airflow.
What do you think ?

Re: Subaru - Reduced oil capacity
A small (19-row) oil cooler holds about 0.3litre iirc, but if you have long hoses run to the front of the van they will hold far more than that.

Re: Subaru - Reduced oil capacity
Thanks for that reply.
I understand that a shortened sump loses a half ltr do .3 + whatever is in the hoses will compensate.. and along with the additional cooling mitigate the loss due to short sump.
Im going to have to live with the sump "as is" for time being (and also the gearbox too) as I'm dangerously pushing it with the family jewels as it is already with the conversion, and I haven't even started the install

Re: Subaru - Reduced oil capacity
Most people run with the standard sump, the caravelle gl has 30mm lower suspension and there isn't any dander of hitting the standard Subaru sump. You will have plenty of space under there with your balloon tyres .

Yeah I wouldn't worry. You can sort that later on if it looks like you're not comfortable, but with a non dropped van, there's plenty of hieght there

Maybe down the line then, doing this conversion... I have enough to be spending my cash on for now

Re: Subaru - Reduced oil capacity
I currently run stock sump in my Subaru bug. No worries with the van!
