02 Skoda octavia 1.9tdi

Post by Rodney Hopalong »

Hello I know Skoda is based on Vw so would the above engine be an easy swap for the 1.6 td engine or would it be to much trouble for diy I have read a lot of threads but cant figure what the engine is as its skoda. Thanks

engine code will be on the white sticker wherever that is on a Skoda and probably on the stamped metal plate if they have one
probably an AGR 90bhp or a AHF 110bhp both euro 2, basically the same as VW 1Z and AFN I think, later 110 euro 3 is ASV which will be PD type engine, I think
there is often a white sticker on the timing belt cover with the engine code and bar code on as well and any VW dealer will be able to tell you what the engine is from the VIN number

ASV is a VE not pd

Only know as i had one in my audi A3

ASV is same as 90hp but has bigger injectors, forged pistons & stronger rods.

Ran 180 hp on mine and it was very strong.

Thanks for replies I can get a 02 Skoda complete car free that has been in family from new and has only 88000 miles on it I was just thinking if I could do something with the engine my camper is petrol but was thinking in future if I came across a 1.6 td it might not be to difficult to swap engines but I could be wrong. :ok

The 99> TDI's are good engines, but are a complete re-design from the earlier type more commonly fitted to the T3. Aside from the bellhousing bolt-pattern (& inlet/ex manis. iirc), virtually everything else on the engine is changed. So none of the T3 mounting components nor the T3 ancillaries can be used.
