Turbo

Post by Jay68 »

The turbo has gone on my bus. The one that was on was the old one from the old 1.6td but the engine is now a 1.9td which I replaced 5 years ago.
Do I have to fit the same turbo or can I fit a new one for a 1.9td. ??

it depends what the turbo is attached to ie the exhaust manifold; if you have used the JX manifold then you will have to use the JX turbo or a version of that I think, most of the AAZ (1.9TD) manifolds are significantly different (because they come from cars) as are the turbos that fitting them is a much more complicated thing to do, hence the JX turbo you have

Why not send your turbo to a reputable workshop and have it rebuilt to take account of it going on a 1.9td. I did about 8 or 9 years ago and it's been grand.

Thanks for your replies. My turbo has in fact gone off to be rebuilt and hybrid so that it will work better with my engine. Looking forward to getting it back.
Will keep you all posted.

Thanks
