Jx 1.6 td oil leak

Post by jacko1967 »

Hi I have a jx1.6td which has just got an oil leak at the head gasket under / near the oil filter pipe work my questions are can i put something in the oil to stop leak ? Anyone done this? I've called a local engine expert they've given a ball park repair cost of £700 to £800 new head, timing belt , gasket , water pump, pressure test ECT anyone done this??? Or is it time to put a 1.9 AAZ in is it worth the extra cost any thoughts comments experiences gratefully received. Cheers Danny

Might be worth double checking if it is indeed the head gasket.

You have the breather pipe entering the block near there which can leak and is an easy fix. The connection is plastic and can crack.

I also had a leak from the gasket where the vacuum pump is mounted which is a case of fitting a brand new gasket.

This is all in the area you have described so may be worth a gander before spending a lot of money.

Sorry. It was actually where the oil filter meets the block, not the servo pump. There is a 'crush' gasket (not sure if that's what it's called) but once it start leaking you really have to replace it. No point bodging it!

Of course it may be head gasket after all, but worth exploring any possible causes which are cheaper to fix.

Good luck.
