EA827 or EA111 Golf Engine in T25?

Post by Timmo »

Hi (if you can help please)
I have a T25 JX 1.6 TD.
I am trying to plan an engine swap for it for the following reasons.
Less than 1549 cc = 150 Car Tax (as opposed to 245)
And quieter and less "fumey"

I am thinking about attempting to put an early golf engine (petrol) in my diesel T25.
Like an EA827 or an EA111. giving 1.4 (84HP)

Has anyone ever attempted this?
Do you think this is achievable?
The HP output seems to be so similar I dont think I will notice a drop in performance.
Any ideas from more experienced head would be welcome.
Many thanks

Don't think you will pay less road tax.I think your vehicle has to come from the factory with a smaller engine to pay less tax. My van runs on LPG (no harmful emissions) and i don't get any tax allowance for that..
