Audi 2.5 V6 engine do they fit ?

Post by sternal »

Long shot

Friend bought his neighbors Audi A4 2.5 V6 1996 which they have owned from new ! He paid a £1 which was the nominal fee they were offered on their new Audi...

I'm thinking for the future on this as my van is a 1.7 diesel and living in London I don't hold out much hope for old diesels !

Would this engine fit ? What sort of cost looking at ? What's needed ? It's automatic and my van is 5 speed.

Any thoughts gladly taken.

You would need a South African bellhousing, Audi flywheel and clutch (not sure which type) and to make up your own mountings, exhaust and much more. It is certainly doable, but whether it is worth the effort is another matter. The biggest downer for me would be having to raise the engine hatch and mess up the bed ( i keep thinking about my 'Allroads' engine) and then think, but it's a camper van, does it need a bigger engine? :D
