TDI temp gauge/sender issues.

Post by martin83 »

Right, I don't like asking what seems to me to be silly questions but here goes.
1984 1.9df caravelle converted to 1.9tdi ahu engine. Ever since conversion i can't get my temp gauge reading right. It never gets above the top of white (cold) block at the left of the gauge.
I tried getting the alloy sender housing for the head to use the old style single spade type sender but it won't fit the head, so I got a black/green sender to fit the plastic sender housing.
I am aware that there are three different part #'s of gauge and many different sender's can anyone educate me on how to match sender to gauge #'s and resistances etc.
Everything can be fixed with the right attitude........
and a BIG hammer

Apparently you want a sender with a resistance of around 260ohms when cold and 35ohms when hot.
