Hi,
after the problems in the summer with the AAZ fuel pump priming I am currently stripping it down to have a check. Can't see any obvious issues although parts of it do look a bit worn. I am reasonably comfortable stripping and rebuilding these things, but being more of a petrol man, I have no real idea of what "worn" looks like on the inside of one of these.
So, first up fuel feed pump, rotor and vanes all seem to be moving freely but you can see some grubiness on the shaft and also on the stator ring and roller cage.
Also the body is quite worn where the roller cage sits
And finally notice some wear on the shaft nose bushing which was replaced when I re-sealed it about 10,000m ago
Any view on whether this is acceptable or is the pump getting near end of life?
Cheers,
MM
