I managed to wangle the afternoon off work today so had a good crack on the new van. Jobs completed today were:

Rewire fridge to control panel
Remove 10L water tank from cupboard and install a Westy tank as well as renewing all pipework and wiring.
Wire in a bedside light
Tidy various other bits of wiring

It doesn't seem like I've done much now I've written it down but it took a good 6 hours....

Did an oil and filter change (used one of those suction things for getting oil out via the dipstick tube - much quicker, easier and cleaner). She was starting to sound quite tappety and looking back I'd gone just over 5,000 miles without an oil change; I normally aim for 3,000-4,000 max between changes. Anyway much quieter now.

Also finally got round to fitting the Fiamma bike rack that I've been tripping over in the garage for months! Good bit of kit and will be handy for carrying the awning on too (not at same time as bikes obvs!). Now she just needs a quick wash and she's ready for next week's trip.

The steering wheel was starting to get a bit sticky so I've stitched a leather cover onto it; much nice to hold.

Anyone else sad enough to paint the VW logo on their wheel or is it just me?

I fitted one of these about 4 years ago, still going strong and feeling good.

Fixed the cupboard door for about the umpteenth time as I keep forgetting it is there and leaning on it, then the next thing you know I have pushed it through! Put a CO monitor in van as well. Fixed on with the trusty Velcro.Image

Having spent ages commissioning my new (rebuilt ) engine in my WBX I finally got it right. Then pink water started dripping from the sump of my Frod Crocus runaround. Fearing a head gasket or worse, I found the water pump leaking. So got stuck into that straight away - cursed job if you can't work out how/why the belt tensioner is attached to the aircon pump. .
So the answer is nothing at all. I'm taking a Bank holiday off anything with an engine in it :D .

So far...

Wire brushed and primed the bits on the side that were showing a bit of rust.

Drained my fuel tank as I need to replace it. Also looked into why I was down on power...

The plastic arm was cracked and when I moved it it fell apart.. I guess that won't help it, maybe I can glue it back together

Have a search on here for Pierburg parts - someone has been 3D printing them for just that job IIRC
