I've been trying to get a sheet of 1.6mm steel for months, every time I'm in Inverness with the pickup he's out of stock.
Getting it delivered would cost as much as the steel. :(

Well, after 4 years of ownership I’ve managed to buy an exact make replacement double glazed n/s window in brown tint. The ones I have seem to be as rare as rocking horse poo and I’ve only ever seen another in Germany which had surprisingly sold!

It cropped up on eBay in great condition so I’ve treated the van for Xmas.

Oil changes to both vans...also both cars and an exhaust fitted, if there is time later may start changing petrol pipes on the tin top.

Haven’t been in yet, waiting for the sparky to do the garage, then I’ll get the hightop off and get it under cover. I’m afraid I’m not up in Highland at all these days though. You could maybe look at eBay? Some people sell smaller sheets.

Washed the van today .
It was fairly "pooh" looking from all
the muck from the roads .

Fitted a new fuel pump. Tallulah had the original from '86 which was a bit tired (a.k.a. cream crackered). Got a new Pierburg from Germany, including postage, cheaper than in the UK. Now that's just silly, but there you go. Anyway, now have reliable fuel to carb.

Then put a new speedo cable in. Terrific - now I know how fast I'm going........ OK, I confess, had to use an app on the mobile sharpish when it broke. But it's great - doing 60 on the dual carriageway then suddenly your bimbling along at, oh, absolutely nothing. HEHEHE - you gotta laugh :rofl

Stripped the interior of my hightop. Only two of the screws holding the boards were fixed straight into the fibreglass, and I only found one hole. Preparation for getting it into my newly electrified garage...

Started stripping the dash out ready to get to the fan for the warm air to put a new one in; the current one is kaput (it has ceased to exist, it has shuffled off this mortal coil - IT is a LATE fan!). Now, who in VW decided to put conical security bolts on the steering column bracket???? Job stopped until they get removed (via oscillating saw - and inclination). Back indoors and buy a couple of intermittent wiper relays instead (thanks to the club's wiki page for the details).

Have a good Crimbo you lot out there :ok
