MoT fail - rain due for 2 weeks

Postby Oldiebut goodie » 26 Sep 2018, 13:03

Failed, so expect rain as I have to repair on the drive!
Failed on what I expected - jacking point area, at least I know it isn't a can of worms inside there as that was all done a few years back and just needs an external patch. Obviously water is getting inside that panel somehow just can't see where. Must be window seal.

Not wishing to teach granny:
In two places where I had to repair in to out corrosion on my van - least ways the ones I have been presenter with, the corrosion problem was caused by blocked or crudded over drainage holes. So before I finished the job I cleared the existing holes and made some more at the ends as I park on an angle.

I think a bit more attention to this on the part of the manufacturers would be helpful although they probably didn't intend the vans to last for thirty odd years.

Incidentally I still have the very rusted pair of upholstery shears left inside the side door by a Leisure Drive employee. Be th/she wondered where they had got to all those years ago.

I have a feeling that I did leave a drainage point as I partially foresaw this, I also sprayed wax in there from inside - that, obviously, was a waste of time.
I have lost a pair of scissors in my van for the last 2 years, whoever finds them later will be in luck as they are stainless steel ones.

We have our own micro climate here - rain in Ipswich doesn't reach us as it usually tracks down the Deben and Orwell rivers and bypasses us. It can also work the other way and stay on the coast and not reach Ipswich.
