There's only really 3 networks now since Orange and T-Mob joined to create EE, Voda and O2 Ran share (radio access network) and 3 just piggy back off whoever gives them a better deal.

All the others just 'buy' airtime off the main operators, as I'm sure most people know.

Worked for Orange for 15 yrs since '04 and now BT on the mobile side installing all their 4G upgrades, BTS engineer and Rigger.

Don't ask me how it all works, it's still a fu*king mystery to me after all these years!!

I am and electrical/ electrinics engineer and I always tell people that I don't really understand electricicty, I just understand enough to work with it.
It's the feeling that you have to understand things to work with them that stops so many people.

That depends if you are one of those engineers who likes to spend their spare time at home alone with the curtains drawn playing computer games in thier pants or if you are one of those engineers who likes to spend their spare time out in the real world.

That's nothing you really have no idea what's going on in my head, I regularly have to stop myself saying stuff which I find hilarious but other people find offensive.

I find it far more amusing (or possibly therapeutic) to just say it :ok But then again I have a dribbly honesty valve ... it leaks and I end up speaking the truth ... normally to other peoples detriment :pimp

The right to offend is, it appears, being snuffed out, it's the cornerstone of comedy.
Most comedians not just take the pi$$ out of themselves as it's not PC to do it to others.

Any way we digress

setting my phone to 2G/3G autoconnect didn't help.

Who would have thought 3G network capability would have transformed into such a philosophical thread.

I am told we have a more tolerant society today..... so long as you adopt the values of those who define what tolerant means. Dissent, and the ability to express alternate views in any form is being snuffed out either by peer pressure or even worse self censorship (not aimed at you personally itchy) :)

I watched 1984 last week............ more relevant now than when it was written by Orwell, or made into the film in 1984. Blame that if you like

Groupthink . pah :!:

Now, where is that Nokia :)

If it’s a spade, it needs calling a spade!
If folk get offended it’s their fault , but let’s be honest here, the problem isn’t them what’s offended it’s them what gets offended on the behalf of those that probably wouldn’t have batted a eyelid ..... "frell" ‘em!

Well we have to talk about something as almost no advice offered as to why my phone is rubbish

I have upset people many times in my life and I'm always made to feel the villan so I tend to think twice now, banter only works if you know somebody well enough.
However once you get to know somebody that you can have some banter with it's great fun , especially in public where others can't believe what they are hearing  , you have to be able to take it to dish it out though.
