Any info on diesel campers and LEZ

Postby Stirls » 11 Jun 2018, 20:47

I'm back on the search for a T25 now that my circumstances has changed for the better:) and was targeting the 1.6TD but I was wondering what the score is with diesel vans and the low emission zone, I've seen some advertised as LOW EMISSION ZONE EXEMPT anyone how to get exemption or any info on LEZ.
Thanks Stirl

Exemption for the LEZ is not a problem for a 1.6 TD provided you have a van that is recorded as a car or motorhome on the V5c and as having a GVW of 2500 kg or under. Most campers are like this but a conversion from a panel van may not be and so it's worth taking a look at the paperwork. It can be changed but it's an extra hassle to deal with.

Having said that however...

... the mayor of London has recently announced his intention to extend the new ULEZ, that currently only applies to the Congestion Charge zone, out as far as north and south circular in 2021. If you're inside that zone you need to know that it looks currently like there are unlikely to be any exemptions for older diesels at all, at least until they hit 40 years old and become historic vehicles.

Hi

I registered my van as a motorhome under 2.5 with no problems and its all LEZ exempt,,,

It was originally registered as a van and weighing 7.5 tonnes

That said I recall someone here had a lot of hassle doing the same thing - I just had to send an e mail or post a letter (can't remember which) with photos proving it was a proper conversion and the weight plate - not a bed, nailed in the back of a builders van

Best
