Welcome... :ok

Most you might want to ask is in the wiki and search facility - anything in particular you want to know ?

Thank you Matt Brighton for the info
Looking at things to check on a 1.6 turbo Diesel engine. I don’t want to change it just look after it.

Hi

I had a 1.6 n/a (non turbo) diesel engine in my camper - 1982 Devon - for the first few years I had it - ... i took it out 4 yrs ago (its still sitting in my garden) and replaced it with a 1.9 diesel engine from a "modern" skoda felecia.

Apart from regular oil and filter changes... theres not much to tinker with or go wrong ...

Hope you enjoy your van and the summer

Best

Its very easy to change -

Mine is on the original 4 speed box - and running it with the bigger dia tyres makes all the difference and it was well worth it..

However I'm taking it out soon to sell..... and replace it with a subaru - don't ask me why - its running well and suits my needs - cruises nicely and copes with brightons hills - its just something I want to do...

Regarding gearbox - I believe final drive ratio in 4th gear on 4 speed boxes is the same as 5th in the equivalent 5 gear box - just closer ratios on the way up to top ...

But there are so many gearboxes for our vans - I think theres a lot more info available if you want to search the wiki or forum

All the best
