On the principle - if it sounds too good to be true...

in the UK it just works as a powerful freeview arial, so nothing illegal about it. if your struggling to get reception this would probably do the trick but other than that its just an aerial.

Uses a discreet 'mud flap' design... Interesting, clearly those things are more useful than I thought.

Illegal in which country?

If you mean illegal in the U.K., what is the name of the law which renders them illegal?

To my knowledge it is perfectly legal in the U.K. to receive any radio signal. Different frequencies can have riders attached such as Police broadcasts where it is illegal to act upon information legally received from a Police broadcast or television frequencies where it is a legal requirement to have a television licence before receiving TV signals.

They have that Base covered too. If you aren't fully satisfied, simply return the item for a full refund. (Distance selling laws apply )

Its just an amplified indoor aerial which might be useful but won't give you anything more than a normal roof aerial.

Do the UK cable providers have to put out the same type of over the air signal as the US providers? I doubt it.
A roof aerial that gave me any signal would be great! One day the powers that be will solve the no signal areas.
Cannot see why such a device would be illegal - it doesn't unscramble encrypted signals at all.
A US product mainly for the US gullible as I see it, "TVFOX HDTV-Antenma" (sic). :rofl

Well to be honest I have ditched Virgin media after about fifty years originating with ntlworld as I only wanted to subscribe to phone and TV and preferred Free view largely due to the superior program menu layout and of course freeness. Of course after I went over to Post Office Broadband Virgin Media offered me what I had been asking all along. Too late mate after all the kerfuffle of new phone number and email address. Although they are very persistent now sending offers behind my back so to speak addressing the wondrous "Bundles" to Lady CS at my address but under the title ms probably thinking she is my daughter or sumat. But as I said too late mate. Anyway I digress

My actual point is that I am now finding that many of the programs and items I see on {proper} BBC channels are repeats of stuff I watched on Freeveiw ages ago. And now unless you are a complete up to date nutter in terms of following sport channels you only have to wait for a few months and you get them free as well especially if you have Freeview Play and tune into the HD channels.
Call me old fashioned but to pay more than £40/M for a package is disproportionate in the scale of essential utilities.

Formed 2006 according to Wikipedia with the amalgamation of NTL and Telewest. NTL formed 1992. Telewest formed in Croydon 1984.

Yes i know I go on a bit but I did say originating with ntlworld early on in the post.
Mind you in line with my The world is Going to Rats philosophy when we moved into our house all those years ago it was a condition that no external TV aerials were permitted so the NTL cable system was discretely installed under the weatherboard. Unfortunately and in line with the anything goes providing there is a profit in it, when Virgin Media engineers/subcontractors installed a system in the granny flats at the end of our cul de sac they ran bundles of cable up the wall over the gutter and over the roof tiles up the a ginormous aerial up on the apex of the roof. ruddy eyesore
See I do go on a bit don't I
