Top Naff Film

Postby Sir Brixalot » 05 Nov 2019, 21:41

After a chilly early morning watching the vintage cars heading down the A23, on Sunday I decide to plonk myself down of the sofa for the afternoon. The Vikings came on dodgy effects. liberal use of polystyrene, the silly script, Tony Curts' hilariously short costume, massive trumpets and I think the Willhelm scream was there. Love it. Any other top naff film reccos?

Jason and the Argonauts. Superb naffness, especially the children of the hydra or skeletons. Complete with wilhelm scream.

I had a part time job in an editing studio in the early eighties. The stoned out of heads' owners watched some really artistic (weird) films.
Extremely naff or pure art? You decide...

Desperate Living by John Waters 1972. Right over my head!

Eraserhead by David Lynch 1977. Ditto

Bullshot directed by Dick Clements 1983...hilariously and deliberately naff, and top Brit comedy film in my opinion. Right up there with Blazing Saddles

the Keanu Reeves 90s epic, Speed, absolute naff tosh about a bus with a bomb that can't go below 50 mph. The Father Ted remake, Speed 3 was much more believable.

Iron Skies... naff, a bit crap, but for some reason watchable.

Bad boy bubby. An Aussie classic. Disturbed me for a while afterwards. Weird/strange doesn’t do it justice. Stick with it it gets even stranger when it leaves the room! Good luck :D

Happy Feet. It was bloody awful (an allegory tale about discrimination of the disabled and badly done imho) and the only film I have ever walked out mid-showing, at the insistence of #2 son who had wanted to see it and said "I don't like this Daddy, I want to go home"
"You're right, let's go"
So we did.
