So long old friend.

Postby Oldiebut goodie » 19 Jun 2017, 16:11

Some on here have met my friend thalji - we had to have him put down last week at 12.5 years old. Some months ago he collapsed with vestibular disease and we nursed him back to a reasonable semblance of health but he collapsed again and despite trying to keep him going he faded fast. Big hole in my life now.

sorry to hear your sad news 'Oldie' it never gets any easier ( we've lost 6 of ours over the years). The only thing that you can try to think of is that you gave him a really happy loved life and were able to do the best for him.

:( They have such short lives, the least we can do is make them happy ones.

Always a difficult time. I know the feeling well from losing several dogs over the years. I hope you're already thinking about filling the hole he's left.

Thanks for all the kind words. It is very odd walking around the house and garden without him coming up and giving me a nudge for a bit of attention. It means that I am not getting my daily walking exercise any more also as his sister cannot walk far. I am pondering a replacement/substitute as I found that when I had my last one killed the best thing I did was to get another quite quickly.

I was a bit worried that it wouldn't go so was relieved when it started to take short flights around the garden.
