Re: Van won’t start
Little update. The van is running again thanks to all your help. As you pointed me into the direction of the hall sender, I took off the connector and gave it a little clean. I then connected the ignition coil back up after cleaning the connections on there. The van started first try and ran perfect...

Van won’t start
Our 1984 1.9 dg won’t start. Turns over but dose not catch. We did the old half an egg cup into the carb, and still nothing. Then tested for a spark, no spark at all and the dizzy cap looks fine and clean. Am I right to think the ignition coil may have broke down. For a couple of weeks we have been ...

Re: £4300 for welding
That seems like a hell of a lot of money for the work being done to me. Is that to cut out all of the metal and replace with new panels/fabricate metal and are they supplying the panels?! I’d deffo shop around for some more quotes - i’d also say that you’ll provide the panels. He wants to cut out t...

£4300 for welding
We need a few jobs done on the van the main one being the front window as it leaks. The welder quoted us worst case scenario £1200 for the front window. He did say worst case scenario means taking the dash out which is fair enough. But he had a look around the van and said it was very solid we just ...

Thicker oil
It's about time for an oil change in our 1.9 dg 1984 westie. We do have a few oil leaks here and there mostly from the push rod tubes which I will replace with the teloscopic ones soon. I have been told though that because our engine is older and we should maybe use a thicker grade oil. We use the 1...

Re: Petrol smell from back wheel what the ?
Sometimes when we first start the van if we sit there for a minute it smells like petrol but I always think it’s the expansion tanks under the front wheel arches

Re: Petrol smell from back wheel what the ?
I’ll have her running tomorrow trying to look for the leak I’m really hoping it was just a one off after just being to the petrol station maybe parking on some spilt petrol. The smell is gone now but it’s been sat for about 2 hours no leak visible under the van or on any pipes on the underside so it...
